These "Transylvanian" patterns represent
our newest design line, inspired by our journey to Romania and
Hungary in the
Spring of 2008 with the carpet scholars Stefano Ionescu
and Alberto Boralevi. These designs were originally woven in
Anatolia from the 15th through the 17th centuries, and traded
through Ottoman occupied Transylvania into Western Europe. A
incredible treasure trove of these carpets have been remarkably preserved
in the Saxon churches there. |
